No Running Like Snow Running
Stonewear Designs Grassroots Team Member Brandi Bolli Humphrey is a runner extraordinaire. Most recently, she blazed through an icy 50K trail in Idaho in wayyy below freezing weather. And because that sounds like a little too much cold for some of us, we can live vicariously through her by reading about it. Check out her race recap:
Last week, I ran the Wilson Creek Frozen 50K in the Owyhee Mountains (50 miles southwest of Boise, Idaho)….and FROZEN it was! The temperature at the start was -10 degrees (yes, in the negatives), with a day high of 18 degrees!
I braved the cold with frozen eyelashes, burnt lungs, shin deep snow, and ice covered ground and mountain terrain, and came in fourth woman overall and first in my age group. I had a great race considering all of my training since October has been focused on my upcoming 45K skate ski race. I will tell you, my quads got pounded, my hip flexors locked up, and my calf muscles are screaming. But I still had a great time and enjoyed every minute running it.
Happy Snow Running to all!
